Paris Saint-Germain have completed the signing of Nordi Mukiele from RB Leipzig.

The Athletic reported on Monday that Mukiele was set to undergo a medical at the French champions despite late interest from Chelsea.

The 24-year-old has now signed a five-year deal at PSG, having spent the past four seasons in Germany.

Chelsea were interested in Mukiele, a versatile defender who can play right-back, right wing-back and centre-back, but it is thought that the PSG deal was already into its final stages.

Thomas Tuchel’s side remain interested in fellow France international Jules Kounde of Sevilla as they seek to bolster their defensive ranks having lost Andreas Christensen and Antonio Rudiger on free transfers to Barcelona and Real Madrid respectively.

Mukiele becomes PSG’s fourth summer signing, following the arrivals of Vitinha from Porto, Hugo Ekitike from Stade Reims and Nuno Mendes from Sporting Lisbon.

Mukiele made 37 appearances for Leipzig last season, scoring two goals and registering five assists as he helped his side finish fourth in the Bundesliga.
